About Steven
Self-taught guitarist with 20 years of experience, versed in various styles: Classical fingerstyle, Folk, Blues, Rock, Pop, Flamenco and percussive techniques. As I had no formal training I have formulated many easy to understand visual shortcuts to understanding the complex theory involved in playing, learning chords, scales and improvising. I specialise in the styles of Jimi Hendrix, Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, and the various notable fingerstyle folk and blues guitarists, and of course Pop mainstays like The Beatles and Stones. Guitar teacher at Rhyl/Denbighshire. When I first started studying guitar I found books on the subject daunting and did not give the relevant information required to develop my playing in the way I wanted so I had to slowly develop my playing style over years learning elements on my own, so having someone to interact with and demonstrate what techniques I needed to concentrate on would have been a massive help, I hope I can provide that kind of assistance to my students. I find it important a student is enthusiastic to learn and will practise and study the exercises and theory between lessons so they can quickly improve their muscle-memory and give feedback about which direction they would like to go with their playing.
