The first lesson will always be an opportunity to meet the student, and hear what their ideas and hopes are for learning. I will always make a note of everything that the student intends to gain from music lessons. During the first lesson the number of lessons desired will also be discussed and established. I will also use the time to understand the level of competence you currently have in the chosen instrument.
When you arrive for the second lesson the tutor (myself) will provide you with a work schedule that matches the number of lessons requested and my suggestions for what can be achieved during the time period requested.
If the student agrees with the work plan I arrange and is happy to follow it, we then proceed with the work plan given by me to the student right through to the completion of our tuition together.
Along the way, students (or myself) might have ideas that can add or alter the original plan, so its a flexible document, not set in stone, but the general idea is to follow through with the scheme of work originally presented to the student in the second lesson. That way, by the time the tuition period is over, both I and the student can reflect on progress made, goals achieved, goals not achieved, areas of particular difficulty, before discussing the next steps in the student's learning journey, and whether or not they wish to continue their tuition experience with myself, move to a different tutor, or try learning on their own for a while.
I am an advanced musician with great performance and teaching experience across instruments. My current focus is on teaching the acoustic guitar and the electric bass.
I have played the acoustic guitar for seventeen years and the electric bass guitar for fifteen years. I am passionate about, and love, both of these instruments dearly. I greatly enjoy teaching the skills that I have developed over many years with these instruments, and sincerely believe that I will be able to pass on a trick or two all manner of learners at a wide variety of developmental stages, regardless of the individual's prior musical journey.
Discuss your needs with me and I will deliver a tailored package, individualised learning plan, and tailored costings for our joint programme of work.
Learning is a journey, and I am excited to work with you together, what ever your goals.
I conduct electric bass and acoustic guitar lessons in person and via Zoom.

Perfect! Angus is very patient and really nice!! I would definitely recommend taking classes with him.
Thank you again :))
Caroline is very nice and has a genuine desire to learn. She also works hard and solves problems she faces in learning independently.
Angus is an amazing tutor. He explains very well and could catch my poor English. I think his talent is a creative music and writing.
