About Jeff
Hello, and thanks for reading my Superprof profile.
I am a multiple award-winning art director and creative director and have worked all over the world for several major global advertising agency networks including FCB, Grey and TBWA.
During my career I have either given creative direction to many professional photographers or I have taken full responsibility for photography myself, with photographic budgets ranging from a few thousand pounds up to many tens of thousands of pounds per image.
I have burned things down, blown things up, used adapted cars, helicopters and cherry-pickers as camera platforms, camped out in deserts, stood in fast-flowing waters, and done countless other strange things... all in the name of 'photography'.
If you are an absolute photographic beginner looking to get up to speed as fast as possible, I can show you how.
If you are keen to develop your current camera knowledge (be it large-format, medium-format, full-frame, digital or film) further, I have the extensive high-end professional experience to help you.
If you are already secure in your camera knowledge and want to develop the creative side of your photography to the highest advertising agency standards I am well-qualified to assist with that, too.
Finally, if you are already an established professional photographer struggling to break through to the next level, I can give you constructive and pertinent portfolio advice from an industry perspective, offer insights into how photography assignment decisions are made in large advertising agencies, and give tips on how to tackle the barriers to entry that photographers often encounter.
In my spare time I collect vintage cameras and lenses.
I also create stock images using a variety of techniques that I licence through online platforms such as Shutterstock, Getty Images, etc.

My approach to tutoring is simple and straightforward.
It involves understanding exactly what you want to achieve, and then focussing on the best ways to make it happen.
Since every client has different needs, my approach is always individually tailored to take into account any strengths and weaknesses you may have, so that working together becomes as enjoyable and rewarding an experience as possible.
Having been creative director in 5 different agencies, I have significant experience in training staff on all aspects of professional creativity.
Also, many corporate clients have asked me to run internal workshops to help their marketing teams understand and appreciate what makes a 'good idea' (as well as what makes a bad one).
Over the years I have been proud to serve as a regular member of the judging panels for various advertising industry creative award events in London and New York.
I have qualified teacher status (QTS) in the UK and have experience of teaching art, design and technology at KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Finally, I have given talks and presentations to students at a number of leading art colleges and universities, including Central Saint Martin's, London College of Printing and Manchester Metropolitan University.
