L3 Commercial Training Solutions
Nick is currently training to become a Commercial Airline Pilot at L3 CTS Airline Academy based in Southampton. To date, Nick has completed the ground school and basic flying phase. Nick now has to complete the intermediate and advanced flying phase in order to graduate and start flying passengers on the line. These phases will be completed in the Airbus 320 full motion simulator, whilst being based in a number of different locations spread across the UK (Southampton, Chester and London). He is currently scheduled to complete the course in April 2019.

Advanced Optronics Business Line, Qioptiq Ltd (Excelitas Technologies)
Nick worked as a Programme Manager within the Advanced Optronics Business Group at Qioptiq. He was responsible for leading and managing a number of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, working with a wide variety of customers and suppliers. Within this role, Nick successfully led the development, integration and implementation of new cutting-edge avionic technology products and capabilities (predominantly Head-Up Displays), from concept through to manufacture, in a fast paced commercial environment. The development projects can be for both military and civil applications and/or platforms, each providing their own challenges to manage, requiring a high level of flexibility and tenacity to deliver and be successful.
Nick’s role predominantly involved leading and managing several large multi-disciplinary project teams towards attaining technical objectives as well as wider business and commercial goals, liaising with customers as the primary point of contact, managing projects within specification (time, cost, quality and scope) and reporting to senior management at programme reviews. The tangible output of the engineering development projects is enabling the fruition of key production and manufacturing contract requirements to deliver optical products with both civil and military capabilities.
Whilst working full-time, Nick worked towards completing a Post Graduate certificate in Engineering Business Management at the University of Warwick as a part-time student, showing his commitment to both personal and professional development.

Acquisition Services Consultant; Project Manager; Systems Engineer

Nick worked as an Acquisition Services Consultant in a client-facing role for an Engineering and Business Management Consultancy. He was deployed within the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) Combat Air Project Team in MOD Abbey Wood on a full time basis. He has a strong track record of success delivering to time, cost and quality on milestones as a Project Manager. He held a number of pivotal roles in numerous high profile projects, delivering technical reports, providing technical consultancy, project management services and implementing new capabilities within the UK MOD. He gained excellent experience and knowledge of Project management, Lifecycle processes, Through Life management, Integration Test Evaluation & Acceptance (ITEA) and Requirements management predominantly in the UK Defence industry.
Tornado GR4 Capability Project Team
- Managing Projects within capability upgrade programme between £30,000 – £50,000,000.
- A significant number of projects were successfully delivered to agreed time, cost and quality as defined by the user requirements set by the customer.
- Security Cleared (SC).
Nick provided engineering consultancy and project management services to the MOD (Royal Air Force) during a number of capability upgrades to their Fast Jet Fleet. He successfully delivered several technical reports involving capability enhancing Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance tasks on the air platform. Nick was responsible for managing key stakeholders, ensuring that they were aware of their individual responsibilities in accordance with meeting the set Key User and Systems Requirements.

Having joined the Project/Business Management Graduate Scheme in Sep 2012, Nick was promoted to the position of Acquisition Services Consultant within 6 months of initial starting date (ahead of schedule); He was then assigned to the Accelerated Development Scheme (AD) where he gained mentorship from senior management and represented the business at corporate events.
Nick has lead and managed projects during all phases of the CADMID (Concept, Assessment, Design, Manufacture, In-service and Disposal) Lifecycle, however specialising in the integration of new capabilities onto existing air platforms. He has a solid understanding and a wide experience of Project Management, Requirements and Acceptance and Technical delivery as part of the Acquisition Services Business Stream.

Holds a strong passion for everything aviation and aerospace engineering related. Enjoy flying light aircraft, engineering, science & technology, travel, reading, exploring the countryside, surfing, sailing, skiing and mountaineering. Climbed Mont Blanc (Chamonix, France) with a good friend in September 2013.
