About Aled

- What kind of experience do you have?

I teach all ages of students from children to adults. I currently teach in a school in London and have been privately teaching for 5+ years. I have lead and supported several outreach projects with Royal College of Music 'Sparks' program including workshops, chamber tuition and group tuition.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I work in a secondary school and have been fully DBS checked.

- Where and with whom did you train?

I studied at both the Royal College of Music, London and at the Royal Welsh College of Music, Cardiff. My tutors included Jon Thorne (Bake Quartet) and Philip Hayman (WNO). I have performed in master classes and coaching with players from the Chilingirian Quartet, the Eroica Quartet and with Simon Rowland-Jones and Lawrence Power amongst others.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I am a member of the Musicians Union.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

My current students range from teenagers to Adults. Many of my students are working towards ABRSM exams in the near future while I take a more flexible approach with other students; helping them prepare orchestral and chamber works. My teaching style is focused on solid technique and musicality. Equally as important is enabling students to be able to practice wisely, efficiently and interdependently.
