Alice BT - First Class Economics Graduate - Economics tutor with Alice

I have known Alice as a capacity of her lecturer in economics when she started her course in BSc Economics at Essex Pathways department, University of Essex in October 2018.

Alice achieved an outstanding year mark of 77% in her foundation year. She demonstrated high level of analytical and critical thinking skills which made her stood out from his peers.

During October 2019 – March 2020, Alice took a role of Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) mentor which was a job opportunity offered by the University. I was Alice’s supervisor for this role when she worked alongside another PAL mentor to support students learning economics module via drop-in sessions in an informal and friendly atmosphere. She also helped in the class to engage with students when they were doing group discussions.

This PAL mentor role would require various skills: communication skills, problem-solving, time management, teamwork, work under pressure and be flexible. Alice did an excellent job, students gave very good feedback on how friendly, helpful and knowledgeable she was.

Alice always looked for ways to tailor her support to individual student and motivate them. She was deemed a role model for many students as her academic performance was consistently outstanding throughout the undergraduate level.
