First things first before my class starts I try and motivate my students. Give them hope. In each subject I write down topics and their marks. After that we'll start with the easiest topic. Each topic has a sub topic, I break them down to pieces. Make everything simple. I give you time to understand what I've taught you. No rush, one day at a time.
