About Violetta
I have been teaching English for a year, my students are getting ready to take the TOEIC, I have coached a few people who had to present corporate topics in the context of an English-language conference on a variety of subjects (Banking and Finance English, Software Development, Pitch of an App Creation) and I have given conversation classes for students preparing a trip to an English-Speaking country.

I am a dual French-American Citizen, born in California and recently settled in Chartres.
I have a French Baccalauréat in Literature and Philosophy and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Delaware in the United States.
I have 10 years of experience in a combination of fields: video game production, software development, corporate and NGO Administration and TV production. I am familiar with Technical and Business English (Internet and Software Development, Business, Finance and Marketing).
My personal approach is to develop an individualized curriculum for each student and his or her specific needs. The commonality would be a strong grammatical basis, taught through a variety of multimedia and playful means in order to give the student structural confidence to start mastering the language and express him or herself more fluently.
Grammar is your friend. It is essential because what you can logically and coherently understand does not need to be consciously memorized. In short, you only need to understand WHY something is in order to speak it correctly.
For example, the first time you fully understand that “Should” is a modal verb and that after “should” you ALWAYS use the base form of the infinitive (SHOULD + GO instead of SHOULD + TO GO), you will never make the same mistake. Fluency in a language comes from the full absorption of a solid grammatical base. Grammar is not your enemy, it’s a secret weapon, an efficient toolbox towards your English fluency!
I can help you study and prepare for the TOEIC exam, prepare for the the English portion of your Baccalauréat, work on an English-language dissertation, coach you on an English-language Corporate presentation, or prepare a holiday to an English-speaking destination by brushing up on Conversational English. The possibilities are endless!
My personal belief is that the student needs to assimilate English on an almost subconscious level. To this end, I have developed a multi-media and multi-pronged playful approach to grammar and vocabulary acquisition, using a variety of tools: grammar books, films, TV and Internet Videos, Radio podcasts, songs and their lyrics, books and poems, magazine and newspaper articles. I tend to stick closely to the tops that stimulate the student and they can range from such varied interests as video games, the Law, Fishing, Football, Motorcycyles, Psychology, Health and Nutrition, Science Fiction.
I truly believe that a student will only learn if he is engaged in a stimulating learning experience and engaged by the content of the classes. That is why I like to tailor my classes to the individual interests, passions and hobbies of my students and why my classes aren’t uniform from one student to another or from one week to another.
I generally send the student a post-class summary by email to summarize what we learned and what we are going to be working on this week.
If you want a unique English learning experience that will make you forget the dry and far-from-stimulating classroom English that turned you off this exciting language, get in touch with me, you won’t regret it, I promise!
