I work a lot with conversation, and reading comprehension exercises. I embrace the practice of guided learning, letting the student try an exercise first, noticing mistakes, and offering tips to ingrain the solutions to these mistakes in the mind. I also believe in learning vocabulary as it shows up in reading, as opposed to rote memorization.
