About Ruby
I've worked as a nanny, a classroom assistant and a private tutor over the last four years, and have helped over 20 students through Year 6 SATs, GCSEs or A-Levels across a variety of abilities, learning needs and curricula. Having been Home-Educated myself I'm also comfortable teaching more holistically and outside of externally ascribed curricula.

I am currently completing a degree in History at the best university in Scotland (and second in the UK), taking subsidiaries in Art History. I'm interested in people, and find it easy to form and establish friendly working relationships with my students.
I am comfortable teaching either in person or online - even by email if need be (though face-to-face teaching always yields the best results). I encourage my students to ask as many questions as they may have, and to learn in varied and interesting ways.
I structure my lessons in a 50/50 split between content and skills, using the information that I discuss with my students in the first part of the lesson to form the basis for work on exam or essay questions in the second part. I prefer to set work between lessons to keep my students' minds active outside of the class, but this is flexible depending on my students' needs!
