I am an enthusiastic and committed teacher, highly effective in motivating and encouraging pupils at all levels. I particularly pride myself on establishing and maintaining positive relationships with both my pupils and their parents.

Primarily piano, but also theory. I also coach Chamber Music Ensembles, and soloists on various instruments.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I was fortunate enough to study with Dame Fanny Waterman for my teenage years, during which time I gained my ARCM (Perfromers) Diploma. This was followed by 5 years' study at the Royal Northern College of Music (the final postgraduate year specialising in accompaniment). I gained GMUSRNCM in 1985, followed by PGDipRNCM in 1986

- What kind of experience do you have?
My first job was at Chetham's School of Music, as a staff accompanist, playing for instrumentalists in concerts and and in both local and national competitions, Moves took me to full-time teaching posts in Sussex and the North of Scotland before returning to my native North Yorkshire, all the time pursuing a freelance career as teacher and performer. Since 2003 I have worked as a member of the main examining panel of the ABRSM, and since 2012 have also undertaken international examining tours. I am currently Head of Keyboard at Bootham School in York
