About Bram
I am a Dutch/Norwegian concert pianist (solo and chamber music), accompanist and teacher. I graduated from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2022, where I obtained a master’s degree in Piano Performance with Distinction (MMus) under the guidance of Katya Apekisheva and Charles Owen. Before coming to London, I lived in Oslo where I studied for 4 years at The Norwegian Academy of Music, and completed my Bachelor's diploma under the tutelage of English pianist Kathryn Stott.
Throughout my years of study I have been part of prestigious masterclasses with performers such as Nino Gvetadze, Lars Anders Tomter, Marianna Shirinyan, Eldar Nebolsin to name a few, and had the privilege to be selected to work with Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Tamara Stefanovich on the music of O. Messiaen at the Ultima Contemporary Music Festival in 2018 and 2019.
Over the past 8 years, I have been working as a piano teacher, first in Oslo and then London, working with students from absolute beginners through to beyond Grade 8. My class of students have progressed musically, technically, and personally. A number of my students are progressing rapidly through the ABRSM grades and I have helped them to set realistic but ambitious targets.
On the performing side, I maintain a career as a solo-pianist and active chamber musician. I enjoy working on a wide range of repertoire, from classical to contemporary, and particularly enjoy programming music of lesser-known composers.

I am presently accepting new students who are playing to ABRSM grade 6+ standard or above (up to post conservatoire level), who seek to develop their musicianship and abilities. I teach at my home studio in Dalston and the typical length of a lesson is 1 hour but can be negotiated to accommodate the students' needs.
I believe that studying piano is an exceptionally giving practice to anyone with a love for music, that has the ability to enrich our lives in many ways. Improving our musicianship and our mastery gives us immense joy and sharing music with others has the power to make one feel more connected to oneself and the wider community. Practising an instrument gives people a skillset that is highly transferable to many other areas of our lives like confidence, focus, direction, and nurturing a love for what we do.
I tailor lessons to match the individual’s needs, with a patient and encouraging approach, and work towards fulfilling the students’ goals with a focus on:
- Developing musicianship and finding the students’ own musical voice
- Increasing musical understanding based on classical interpretation
- Developing a healthy piano technique
- Coaching in performance practice
- Finding confidence at the keyboard
- Audition/exam preparation
