About Ariel

I grew up training in the industry but never knowing where to audition or how to, or the workshops available-that was always something that had to be done on personal time, my intentions as a vocal/dance coach is to not only train my students to correct and hone their craft but to also provide resources on where to take their craft if desired and how to prepare for personal goals!

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I started performing at the age of three- I started off with African Jazz, then once I moved to phoenix I found my calling in Latin Ballroom and went Pro at 18. My music career is a bit more intricate, I was in many auditions and competitions like when X-factor came out I received callbacks but didn't make the final cut, I still felt proud considering there were thousands of us just packed in a parking lot in line waiting to be given a chance so to know I got call backs was a win for me. I hate to sound cliche in the sense that I've always had a passion but that's really how it is. Music has always just been a part of me, and I have tried giving it up believe it or not and I can't.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Oh man this is a tough one because I love all kinds, I love Morgan Wallen, SZA, Naomi Raine, 2000's never get old for me and 90's ha
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

Honest, creative independence. I know it sounds a bit dull but being able to create whether it is singing or dancing independently is hard for many primarily because we become a bit dependent on either singing along with the artist or being told how and when to dance and to what song. Sound and body dication is a tough one but hard to run from when you start really putting the time in and that is was starts help with independence.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

Oh my gosh, the Viola/Guitar/Violin they all seem so hard for me to grasp I understand the concept mentally but to physically make my hands do it is just a huge brain stump for me,
  • What are your keys to success?

Take your time, try it again, and take in the wins big or small every win needs to be acknowledged because you worked for it and it's a win simple as that!
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Teddy Swims, Jazmine Sullivan, Jessie Reyez, Russ, Stevie Nicks. I love artists that seem and write as if they have depth it is so hard to find depth these days
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

I have a variety of students of ALLLLLL ages. My youngest is 4 and it goes all the way to 70. Something I have learned is music is more than entertainment, it is a portal to the heart and being able to get someone to sing/dance for you is such a vulnerable and honoring compliment because most students no matter the age are just trying to accomplish one thing and that is hone their craft and feel strong and confident in their skin while they are creating their master piece and executing it how they envisioned and that is something so worth nourishing and watching flourish.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I love what I do and I live out what I do. I practice what I preach and I am actively in the industry so I am always knowing what it feels like to be the student because I am never done sharpening my own craft myself.
