About Abby
Although I am only an A level student, I believe my young age is an advantage when it comes to piano teaching since I understand how to explain musical ideas to young minds. When I was a music student hopping between different teachers, I felt most at ease with the teacher I had who was still in university, so I hope this will be the case with any students of mine.
A little bit about me: My musical journey began when I was 6. Inspired by a gift of a keyboard by family friends, I told my mum I wanted to learn how to play something, thinking the most my repertoire would include would be Taylor Swift songs and not Chopin's Revolutionary Etude, Liszt's Liebestraume and other pieces I have managed to get under my belt over the years!
My mission as a piano teacher is to teach others music not just for others but also for themselves. I know too many people who learn it as a way to impress or for a university application and whilst those are all advantages of being a pianist, the biggest advantage is that it is a tool for expression and communication: to get to know yourself better but also to show yourself to others and share with them how you feel, whether it's through classical music or through kdrama OST piano covers - the sky is the limit!
Piano, to me, is a way to make memories. Like one has photos of themselves aged 5, then 10, then 17, I have pieces of music I have played over the years which have memories attached to them. Music has taken me to many places: from the street pianos of Kuala Lumpur to the Indigo O2 stage, I have had so many fun experiences thanks to music and met so many people from all ages and walks of life that I hold close to my heart. I would love to teach others this gift that brings so much happiness to my life :)

Piano teacher teaching pre Grade 1 to Grade 8 in London in person only.
Lessons range from 30 mins to 1 hr 30 min
4-18 yrs old only, Grade 5 and under preferred but all levels welcome
Teaching will usually revolve around working towards the ABRSM or Trinity College London graded exams, but this is flexible and can involve any other repertoire your child wishes to learn.
Lessons will be on practical performance skills only and will not include Music Theory.
Fully DBS checked.
