I have worked as a Senior lecturer at degree level for the past 15 years. I have also worked as a free -lance Lecturer/Speaker for Art & Design History for various groups such as WEA, National Trust, Poole Arts Society and FE colleges. To add to this, I am have taught visual communication in general across many practical subjects, including graphic design, fashion photography and interior design and am very practical myself. I do not believe in theory for theorys sake, I aim to inform students' practice but introducing them to new knowledge to apply, in order to give greater depth for theor own creative ideas. to their ideas.
I can approach tutoring as pure information only for your interest and pleasure. Equally, having taught at degree level, I can teach content and design assessment if required.
I use Powerpoint and my presentations are very visual. My style is very interactive, friendly, approachable and informal. I like to involve quizzes as part of the process to help students' retain information and to make it more fun. I am also happy to tutor on a one-to-one basis.
I have 15years experience as a lectuter/tutor. I have taught students from 18 years to 70 years old. In fact, I have also taught children as well, both primary and secondary age. Feedback from students has indicated that I have opened up a world of art and history, made it fun and accessible and have taught them to look, see and appreciate the world around them and to be inspired by it in their own work
Excellent! Debbie was considered and thoughtful with her initial feedback and later when I sent my course notes to her. She was honest enough to inform me that she would not be the right tutor to help me study so we have not actually had any lessons.
Unfortunately, I was unable to help Melissa due to the content and subject area not being aligned with my knowledge and expertise. I would like to thank Melissa for her very kind review in relation to this, and I hope that she was able to find someone else to guide her.
Debbie is an enthusiastic and engaging tutor that is never without information and ideas. She has a great interest in what she teaches and you can depend that her constant research and exploration will greatly inform you. She works closely with you to understand you and your work to bring it to it's full potential, and provides in-depth advice and reliable guidance for as long as it is wanted. She is fully supportive and committed, always seeming to be available and willing to help. Debbie is easy to get in contact with and communicates well both in person and through message and is someone to feel at ease with due to her friendly and enthusiastic character.
Debbie is approachable, hardworking and an extremely kind individual. After being taught by Debbie during my last year at university, it was evident that she always put in 100% effort with every one of her students and always with a very positive attitude and with a keen passion for what she does. Debbie supported me greatly during the times that I struggled through my dissertation. The entire time that I was tutored by Debbie, I was able to stay motivated and driven to do well and reach my full potential. I am proud to say that I achieved a high grade in my dissertation with her brilliant support.
