About Ella
After achieving a first class degree in Fine Art from Lancaster University, I completed my teacher training at Cambridge University. My first teaching job saw me establish a successful new Art course at HMP Peterborough, and I currently teach A Level Art at Hills Road Sixth Form college. I have also worked for local charity Arts and Minds, running workshops in Secondary schools for students facing difficulty in their lives. Last year I also had the fantastic opportunity to give a talk and host workshops in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, on the topic of Drawing and the Mind: Art as a Mental Health Tool.

I am fascinated by how the simple act of drawing can serve as a vehicle for communication, self-awareness and connection, whilst also serving as a form of meditation. Having worked with a diverse range of people, from primary school children to prison residents, I have experienced how the primitive process of making marks on a page can be a way for people to impose order over inner chaos, quieten their minds, and ultimately find a greater sense of meaning and fulfilment in their lives. I would very much like the opportunity to continue to share in this discovery.
