Lessons with Vicky never felt overly formal, and I mean that in the best possible way. My two years with her were really special, not only because of how much I learned, but because of her quirky personality and loud, colourful presence.

I learned so much about filmmaking and the wider context around it, but what I appreciated most was how much she tried to give us experiences beyond the classroom. She organised trips outside of university, brought in special guests for talks and industry exposure, and even helped us put together our own festival. She genuinely wanted us to experience the industry and understand what exists beyond the university bubble.

Whoever gets Vicky as their tutor next is very lucky, because they’re in very good hands. I’ll always be grateful for the energy, encouragement, and honesty she brought to the two years I spent learning from her. She is genuinely not one of those tutors you come across randomly.

During the MA Fashion, Film and Digital Production Program at the University of the Arts London, I genuinely learned a great deal. As we all know, this is a field heavily focused on practical production, so relatively speaking, my classmates and I were somewhat weaker in theoretical research. Not only did Vicky provide valuable advice throughout the filming process, but she also specifically organized tutoring sessions for us in the areas of theory and research proposal. She encouraged me to consider not only how an image functions aesthetically, but also whose experiences it makes visible and how those perspectives are articulated. That perspective continues to inform my practice today.

Unlike so many teachers and tutors, Vicky has an enormous amount of first hand experience as a multi award-winning filmmaker, who has been represented as a director at the most prestigious production companies in the world.
