About Weiyi
I am a somewhat experience competitive ballroom and latin dancer offering solo or group dance lessons for beginners and novices (0-3 years experience). I complete at inter in Latin and pre-inter in ballroom at university circuit level and have been dancing for 5 years, with various achievements to date. I am relatively well versed in both routine and styling, with favourite dances being Waltz, Cha Cha Cha and Samba. I never taught latin dance as part of a paid job but have helped out anyone in the beginner and novice categories with my current dance club - University of Leeds dancesport whenever I can and am able, and am hoping to explore teaching as a new area. I have been featured on the greatest dancer (a fluke I feel) under the name Weiyi Yao (I believe it is still on youtube) on BBC awhile back so feel free to check it out for humours sake - though the latin dance I am to teach will be somewhat different.

I hope to give lessons in Cha, Jive, Samba, Waltz and Quickstep as I am most comfortable with these dance styles. I aim to tailor my teach style to the needs and capabilities of each individual, via experimental method of teaching that follows the SMART framework (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound) with a defined goal and outcome so to ensure that I have done a decent job, anything beyond will be a bonus for me and my journey as an amateur dance teacher! In honesty I am well positioned to teach beginners and early novices (0-3 years of experience) in a social or competitive setting but am not yet good enough to teach anyone beyond, and ideally for the specific dances as mentioned - thus please only consider me if you fit within this criteria, there are better and mostly likely more expensive teachers (though they are definitely worth the money) if you are beyond the level which I can be of help. As a bonus I could also try to teach how to do latin improvisational dance moves using a rule based method (for those that have some foundations in latin) which I do not think many teachers do. Perfect! Really enjoyed my first ever dance lesson. He had good understanding and took the time to find out what I wanted out of the tutoring , offering advice options and dance routine. Friendly and patient. Highly recommend :)

Same rates for all - though negotiable as I am quite flexible, hope not to over or under charge and find a comfortable price based on the situation, willing to travel around in the West Yorkshire area though based mainly in Leeds! Near University of Leeds area would be perfect though no worries if not! Happy to discuss longer term packages - will see what works best for everyone, thanks!
