Basic English language tuition for second language speakers and Special needs learners

Methodology

I am seeking to specialise in Second language learners and specifically those who have learning difficulties as this is my specialism. My tutoring will be easy-paced and non-pressurised with learners dictating the pace and rhythm of their learning. I prefer interactive learning that uses a lot of visual aids and listening and repeat techniques. Some times I will encourage the learner to jump into the 'deep end' of more complex dialogue exercises and then we slowly unpick the bones, so to speak, of any errors as this is an effective way to allow the learner to take ownership of their learning.

I currently within the educational sector in the UK at both Secondary and primary level, specifically within special educational needs learning support. My goal is to enter into teaching English as a foreign language which I am currently studying for a Level 5 TEFL Certification. .

I currently work as an SEN Teaching Assistant within the Inclusion Faculty of the above UK secondary school. I am part of a team of several SEN staff working off a designated weekly schedule of classes. I perform a mixture of one to one and group responsibilities, working from Year 7 right through to Year 11. The role includes organizing Physical education activities such as Football (Soccer), Handball, basketball, Hockey, Circuit training and others with students and small groups. As well as this I mentor and assist children with reading, writing and comprehension skills. Additionally, I also undertake scribing work for children with visual and language disabilities respectively, especially during examination periods.

I am employed as an SEN Teaching Assistant working in Primary and secondary schools, assisting main teaching staff with classroom order and supporting individual children with special needs to aid their learning. My most recent assignments has been the following schools:
Nightingale School (April-May 2016) in the Borough of Hackney. I was assigned to a year 6 child who was stated as SEMH. I was required to provide mentoring and educational support with his learning. My duties included managing his weekly work

programme and ensuring he remained ‘task-centred’ and focused. Other duties included ensuring that he was protected from the risk of confrontation with other children. This was achieved by closely monitoring his play and interaction patterns and ensuring that he was not left unattended at key points of the school day or in isolated areas.

Winsor Primary School (June-July 2016) Newham, London. Worked as an SEN classroom assistant Key stage 1/2. Duties included assisting the main teacher with day to day classroom programme and curriculum activities. This included one to one work with statmented children as required. Additionally, I also assisted with the preparation and organizing of the year 6 end of school dramatical production, including set construction and performing arts activities.
