About Mai

Hi there! I'm Mai. With over 600 successful lessons on Preply and 10+ years in children's education, I specialize in making Japanese fun, intuitive, and highly engaging for both kids and adults! Whether you are planning a trip to Japan, preparing your child for a bilingual future, or starting from zero, my lessons are tailored just for you. As a former English teacher now support in both English and Spanish, I offer full trilingual support to ensure you never feel lost. Let’s turn your Japan dreams into reality—book your first lesson today!

What Makes My Lessons Different?

-For Travelers to Japan ️
Many of my students take lessons 3-6 months before their big trip! I will teach you essential phrases, ordering at restaurants, and cultural manners so you can navigate Japan with ultimate confidence.

-For Kids & Teenagers
With over a decade of experience teaching children, I know exactly how to keep young learners focused, excited, and smiling throughout the entire 50 minutes. No boring grammar drills—I use interactive games, songs and activities.

-Trilingual Support (English & Spanish)
Having taught English for years and now speak in Spanish, I understand the exact challenges of learning a new language. I can explain complex Japanese grammar concepts clearly in your native tongue whenever needed.

My classroom is a warm, energetic, and safe space where making mistakes is just part of the fun. Let’s set your personal goals and achieve them step-by-step together.

I can’t wait to meet you in our first lesson! ¡Nos vemos pronto!

No worries if you’re starting from scratch! I offer beginner-friendly Japanese lessons, helping you master the language step by step. Right now, I live in Mexico, but I’m originally from Shizuoka. Shizuoka is famous for its delicious fresh tea️, mandarins, sakura shrimp, and shirasu fish. Plus, we have Mount Fuji, which attracts many tourists. I’ve climbed Mount Fuji four times! I love cooking (りょうり) and traveling (りょこう). So far, I’ve visited over 45 countries. I’m passionate about Japanese culture and history, especially visiting Japanese castles.

Desde 2018 he enseñado a estudiantes desde nivel principiante hasta intermedio y también los he ayudado a prepararse para el JLPT. Me encanta enseñar y conocer a cada estudiante de manera personal.

About the lesson

I use Genki book and workbook, video and App to learn Hiragana and Katakana, Kanji. Since 2018, I’ve been teaching students from beginner to intermediate levels and helping them prepare for the JLPT. I really enjoy teaching and getting to know each student personally. My lessons are dynamic and student-centered, personalized to your needs and interests. By learning with me, you’ll be able to enjoy conversations in Japanese with confidence and better understand Japanese culture and music.
