About Youkang
Hi! I’m Harry, a Ph.D. student in School Psychology at UC Berkeley with an academic background in both Psychology and Economics from Brandeis University.
My interdisciplinary training allows me to approach behavioral economics from both perspectives: understanding traditional economic models while also examining how psychology, emotions, cognitive biases, and social influences affect real-world decision-making.
I also have experience teaching a Microeconomics and Behavioral Economics course to gifted pre-college students at UC Berkeley, where I used interactive activities, behavioral experiments, games, and real-world examples to make economic concepts more engaging and accessible.
My teaching style is clear, supportive, and personalized. I especially enjoy helping students connect abstract theories to everyday decisions, such as spending, saving, risk-taking, consumer behavior, and social interactions. Whether you need help with a class, exam preparation, a project, or simply want to learn more about behavioral economics, I can tailor lessons to your goals and experience level.

This "Behavioral Economics course" introduces students to how psychology influences economic decision-making. Rather than assuming that people always make perfectly rational choices, behavioral economics explores how emotions, cognitive biases, social influences, and mental shortcuts shape the decisions we make every day.
Topics can include: prospect theory, loss aversion, framing effects, anchoring, heuristics and biases, present bias, social norms, nudges, game theory, and decision-making under uncertainty. Lessons can also connect behavioral economics to real-world topics such as consumer behavior, saving and spending, education, public policy, health decisions, and marketing.
Sessions are personalized to each student’s background and goals and may include:
* Clear explanations of key behavioral economics concepts
* Real-world examples and case studies
* Interactive experiments and decision-making activities
* Support with homework, essays, and projects
* Practice interpreting graphs, data, and research findings
* Connections between psychology and traditional economic theory
* Review and exam preparation
My goal is to make behavioral economics engaging and intuitive while helping students develop strong analytical skills. Whether you are learning behavioral economics for the first time, taking an economics or psychology course, or simply interested in understanding why people make the choices they do, lessons can be tailored to your needs.
