I think we have to adapt the method to the student. The "school" method can not be suitable for everyone, so I try to find what can interest the student and what will lead them to progress, to create automatisms in their minds that make communication easier.

If the lessons has to be canceled, I would prefer you to tell me the morning before the lesson, and of course, I will do the same.
If the lessons take place over 10 km around my house or my school, I will ask you to pay me one more euro because of th trip.
