While I am new to teaching in group settings, I have helped my peers with the subject of French for many years. I always make sure to focus on helping them actually understand the language, instead of just memorizing definitions or spelling.

I like to make sure that students enjoy practicing the language, because practice is key to learning. Students are always encouraged to ask questions about topics they do not fully understand. Additionally, I've found that encouraging students to explain certain concepts, not only allows me to gauge their understanding of the subject but also helps them to retain that information
When teaching private lessons I like to know how the student learns best (verbal, visual, logical, etc) so that I can tweak customize to their particular needs
