I graduated from the University of York with a first class degree in Biochemistry. I have also recently completed a law conversion course in London, achieving a distinction and I will eventually begin working as a solicitor. My academic background equips me well to teach Maths, Physics and Chemistry up to and including GCSE level, and Biology at all levels in addition to law up to A level. I am polite and friendly and keen to assist with the learning of all age groups.
For the past 18 months I have tutored several families in Maths and Science at a range of levels. Over this time, I feel that my tutoring style has developed and adapted, and I now have a greater understanding of the most effective methods of explaining complex concepts to students, and preparing said students for upcoming examinations. However, from tutoring a variety of students at different levels, I recognise the importance of being adaptable and the need to employ different techniques to suit different learning styles. It is essential that outside of the sessions, students are equipped with suitable revision strategies to employ on their own.
I feel that it is important to make tutoring sessions interesting and enjoyable, and I strive to do this by integrating interactive activities into the session. This aims to make the information more memorable and the sessions less repetitive. It is important to assist students with their learning rather than too quickly telling them the answer. Therefore, I attempt to guide towards the correct answer by asking questions, and ensure that a student is confident enough with a topic that they are able to repeat back to me how they got to the answer afterwards.

Perfect! Excellent A-Level Biology Tutor
Florence tutored my daughter in Biology. She arrived promptly and was always prepared. The sessions were structured with discussion of a related exam question at the end. Frequently, Florence e-mailed my daughter with follow-up material.
Having missed a lot of school during a period of illness, my daughter not only needed to catch-up on the work she had missed but also needed to get over her anxiety about returning to school and about writing exams. Florence not only has natural empathy but also practical advice on exam technique and calming nerves.

Florence tutored me whilst I was studying for my degree and was extremely helpful! She patiently explains things in a simple to understand manner, highlighting the important parts to learn. She also helped me understand how I learn best, and showed me different resources that I could use which were really helpful also. I would really recommend her as a tutor and don't think I would have done nearly as well as I did if she hadn't helped me!
