About Hana
I am a fourth year university student studying Biochemistry who has been mentoring Canadian newcomers since January 2021. I have been speaking proficient French since childhood as I was in an extended French program in school and have continued to read and speak French as much as possible whilst living in Toronto. I am a hospital volunteer and currently a researcher specializing in mental health and mood disorders.

My techniques and teaching methods involve the use of repetition and practice as the foundation of improvement. A typical class would involve an introduction of the topic (ie. adjectives), examples, and allowing the student to practice (ie. using them in a sentence or spelling the words on their own). I also use short stories or texts to allow the student to become comfortable with reading out loud and comprehension.
My experience in life with individuals who speak English as a second language has allowed me to understand how students may best pick up a new language. In addition, I have learned two languages besides English throughout my life. Therefore, I understand the challenges involved and how best to mitigate them.
