About Elaine
My love for imparting knowledge and helping students stems from being told as a teenager by science teachers that I would never obtain a science degree or work in a science-related field. Have gone on to have an established career first of all in healthcare as a clinical and now as an experienced quality engineering professional working within the development and manufacturing of medical devices.
Seeing people understand the concepts of science and maths being able to apply them, gaining the necessary experience to help them on their way to what they want to achieve is a huge honour.

Currently hold the following qualifications:-
MSc in Biomedical Engineering
MSc in Biotechnology
BSc Hons in Natural Sciences (Chemistry)
With the above I tutor Chemistry, Biology, Maths & Physics, generally aimed at teenagers taking their exams as they go through school. Have 12 years' experience tutoring with most students obtaining B grades or better. Experienced in both the Scottish National 5s, Highers and Advanced Highers and English GCSE and Levels.
Lessons would normally be on a one-to-one basis and last for an hour. The first session takes a detailed look at where students are up to in the course curriculum and they would guide as to where they are finding difficulty in understanding course materials. Through questions and practical questions the student's knowledge base would be assessed so that any areas of weakness can be identified and a plan drawn together with the student on the way forward to help them gain the best out of the tuition.
Lessons are tailored to each student's needs.
Individual learning materials can be generated and built upon each session that is conducted. Previous exam questions are used frequently to ensure students have familiarity with the language used in exam questions and know what is being asked of them.
