About Connor

Hi, I’m Connor.

As a former Infantry Officer, I learned how to communicate effectively under intense pressure - whether briefing senior commanders, leading troops on operations or training the brightest and best at training establishments.

I later trained as an actor at Italia Conti and subsequently I’ve coached professionals from doctors to founders to speak with clarity, authority and calm.

I’ve delivered training at world renowned military academies and co‑founded Speech Hub, a platform dedicated to helping experts make their message land. My sessions are catered for everyone - they're practical, tailored, and relaxed.

  • How long have you been interested in the field of well-being and are you practicing?

Well-being is extremely important and I must admit I've not always looked after my own as much as I should've done. It's definitely something I've started to focus on more in my thirties. For me, physical fitness is extremely important and it helps me to feel better mentally and emotionally as well as physically.
  • Tell us what your discipline can bring to people's lives.

I dove into communications coaching with a mission to help people achieve their potential when communicating, whether it's a business meeting or presentation, a speech at a wedding or simply engaging with someone on a one-to-one basis. Whether English is your first language, second or you're your third! Together, we've combined what we've learnt from our personal journeys to create a process to help you achieve what you need.

I know what it's like to feel tied in knots, or stumbling over your words when engaging with others and how that can put you on the back foot when you want to strive forward - personally, I've been there, I've had to overcome the same challenges myself and I can help you do the same.
  • Could you provide some instant top tips to help us feel good in body and mind?

My advice: do at least thirty minutes of physical activity every day. It doesn't need to be at 100% effort. If you work at home, make sure you leave the house. Breathing exercises are amazing - two minutes of focused breathing (4 seconds in, 4 seconds out) will help reduce stress and anxiety levels.
  • How would you describe your method as a practitioner?

Very relaxed and friendly sessions. I will always explain why we are doing an exercise and if you have a preferred means of learning (visual / audio / reading / kinaesthetic), I'll work to your needs!
  • With experience, are there things you have learned or unlearned about yourself or others?

Absolutely, we are never too old to learn and the more we discover, the more we realise we don't have all the answers! A really important lesson is that not everybody will see the same point of view when presented with the same information. This can be a strength and create new ideas, or it can be stifled if overlooked.
  • Do you have a role model, a person who really inspired you?

I've got loads! But I'd say the latest, along with thousands of others, is Russ Cook - the Hardest Geezer, who became the first man to run the length of Africa, covering some 9,000 miles over 352 days. He had some incredibly tough moments along the way (including being kidnapped!), but the mental resilience he showed is superhuman. Nothing worth trying for comes easy.
  • How do you personally relax; what methods work for you?

I get out and get active. Whether that's running, cycling, hiking - getting outdoors really helps me to unwind.
  • Tell us about a memorable lesson

I recently had a student who was really struggling with changing their delivery - they found themselves stuck when it came to playing with the emphasis and intonation within their sentences. So, we broke it down, found an exercise that worked for them and then it was like everything just clicked into place - it made such a difference!
