About Simon
Hello! I'm Simon, a highly-experienced independent textile artist specialising in weaving, although my initial interest in textiles began with a passion for knitting, around 12 years ago. My main focus is on wall hangings, although I also dabble in making fabrics for the home, such as table runners, mats, coasters, and even the odd rug. I also crochet and macramé; all of the above which give me a deep knowledge of designing and constructing fabric based on solid hands-on experience and experimentation.

My session with you will be 1 on 1, and after a previous chat with you about what you'd like to make, I'll have the loom pre-warped and ready for you to begin weaving straight away. Once we're comfortable and have cups of tea on hand, you'll learn everything about weaving basics while you gradually build up a work of art that looks good enough to take home and display!
While you're weaving, I'll keep a written record of what you've learnt to take home with you so you can look back and analyse your finished product and better understand how you made it. I'll also include a glossary of terminology for all the strange words!
I also offer knitting lessons: if that's more your thing, you get to take any unfinished work home with you to continue making (borrowing the needles).

- All rates include use of loom, tuiton, and cover cost of materials used... and tea and biscuits!
- First lesson with me is a minimum of 2 hours, but the first half an hour is free, coming to a rounded-down total of £52
- If travelling to your home, an extra £5 will be added to the fee for transporting the equipment and materials.
