BSc Sports Therapy Graduate and Qualified Teacher in Sport, current Masters student wanting to teach lessons of all abilities.

My teaching style offers a very humanist approach, in which it is very student led and gives learners the options of what they want to learn and how they want to do it. I give learners my vast knowledge and experience and help them understand and utilise this to help develop themselves in the most effective way possible for them

I studied BSc Sports Therapy graduating with 1st Class With Honours, whilst working at sports clubs such as Notts County FC and Burton Rugby Club. I have then gone on to complete my PGCE and become a qualified teacher in which I have been teaching Sport and Sport Science at an outstanding college for 9 months. I am continuing to teach at this institution which studying my Masters in Education. I am extremely qualified and knowledgeable and ready to help people get to the next step

Trainee Teacher | Leeds City College Nov 2018 to Present
Academic year placement at Leeds City College, working directly alongside Pearson award winner and judge Raza Siddique
My time at Leeds City College has been invaluable to my personal and professional development. I have been given the perfect level of support and encouragement to work autonomously and find my own effective teaching style. Since arrival I have been given responsibility and the permission to try new methods and find ways to effectively develop my teaching practice. From creating SoL and SoW for my own modules, whilst also teaching and planning, carrying out and marking my own formative and summative assessment, I have already recruited more experience than other teaching professionals’ years in the role. I have already taught topics in my subject area (NVQ Level 3 Foundation and Extended Diploma, A-Level) and areas outside my subject specialism (PESS 2 & 3, Activity Leadership). During these lessons I have assessed attendance and punctuality, BRAG ratings using pro-monitor and mark-book and constantly stretched and challenged learners to achieve higher than their MTG. I have been lucky enough to be a part of the Internal Verification process for other staff members assessments, with being the sole IV for an experienced member of staffs’ assignments. I have been involved in the measuring and development of ‘Value Added’ of each learner, with practice developing spreadsheets and understanding what individual learning level each learner needs to achieve. I have ensured this through constant stretch, challenge and differentiation during each lesson. I have been observed by many members of college management and TEL team, each saying my teaching practice is excellent, meeting full OTLA standards and years above my actual level with only being teaching 5 months. Upon the calculations of grades, I have understood and experienced the progression of learners at the end of an academic year. Not only have I been an effective teaching presence, but I have also offered pastoral support for learners and have knowledge of safeguarding scenarios and the process in an educational establishment. For each learner I have understood and developed my knowledge of mental and physical conditions to be able to support learners, especially with those with an EHCP. Whilst complying with college policies, I made a real effort and successfully promoted British Values and Equality and Diversity in every lesson. This was done through providing real examples of respecting cultural differences in elite and non-elite sports performers, opening class discussions and debates and promoting group work with learners from many different diverse backgrounds.
