About Janie
Hello there!
Originally from Yorkshire, I moved to London five years ago where I have been working as an Art and Photography teacher in the Kingston area. I am equipped with a positive, humorous and confident approach to teaching and a slightly mellowed Yorkshire accent! I have recently stepped out of the full-time classroom to start working on a solo entrepreneurial project. However, my passion for teaching and helping young people to achieve both personal goals and academic results is something I cannot find myself stepping away from. I love the sense of pride that teaching art and design instils in both my students and myself. I like to call them my "pride bubbles"!
I have seven years teaching experience in both a mixed and an all girls’ school. Five years of which were in one of the top performing schools in the UK, helping students of all abilities to prepare for exams, with 100% pass rate. In those five years, I have seen students perform miracles; leaping several grades within a few months under my wing. I am committed to each student I teach in helping them to achieve their best potential and I will always try my hardest to listen, take initiative to learn what type of support students need and make sure they feel confident in their abilities.
I am a firm believer in one-to-one tuition to help students progress quickly and I have confidence in my experience and in my caring, down to earth nature that my tutor sessions are assuredly enjoyable and effective. I am happy to teach students of all ages from primary school through to secondary school who would like help in developing their artistic skills, or GCSE and A-level students who need extra support in their studies and in building their portfolio for Higher Education.

Janie is a warm and supportive teacher who builds very positive relationships with her students.
