About Ben
I’m Ben, and I enjoy helping students make the violin feel less intimidating and more natural. It is an instrument that can demand a lot of patience, so I believe lessons should give you clear direction without making the learning process feel overly pressured.
I adapt the way I explain things depending on the student. Sometimes a visual demonstration is most useful, sometimes we need to slow a movement down, and sometimes understanding the musical idea makes the technique immediately easier.
I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and experimenting during lessons. My role is to help you understand what is happening in your playing and give you practical ways to improve it.

My violin lessons are built around helping you become comfortable with the instrument while making steady, noticeable progress. We will work from your current level and focus on the areas that will make the biggest difference in your playing.
Lessons can include bowing, intonation, rhythm, left-hand coordination, tone production, reading music, and playing with greater expression. Rather than separating technique from music, we will use pieces and songs to develop these skills naturally.
If a piece feels too difficult, we will break it into smaller sections and find practical ways to make it manageable. You will learn how to recognize what is causing a problem instead of simply repeating the same passage and hoping it improves.
The goal is to help you become a more independent violinist who understands how to practice effectively, play with greater consistency, and enjoy the music you are creating.
