About Alexander
Hello, my name is Alex. I am currently studying for a PhD at Cambridge University in Welsh History, having completed an undergraduate and masters degree at Cambridge. My research interests are broad, covering politics, law, language, philosophy, history and literature. I attended secondary school at Wycliffe College in Gloucestershire, where I gained A-Levels in History (A*), English Literature (A), German (A) and Politics (at AS level).
Having spent hundreds of hours in one-to-one tuition at Cambridge, and
presented my own research to audiences of varying backgrounds across the UK, I am passionate about bringing the unique experience of Oxbridge tutorials to younger people. Critical thinking, and the skill of communicating these thoughts on paper, is at the heart of everything I do. These skills provide the foundation for success at any level in formal education, as well as equipping an individual for a bright future. My research experience is in History and English Literature and Language, but essay writing, critical analysis, and communication are all transferable across the humanities.
I am well-organized and professional. Teaching is individual to the student, and should be challenging but fun; I am eager to accommodate any personal interests or needs.

Prizes and Scholarships :
My master's thesis was nominated by my department for, and won, the internationally-renowned Johann-Kaspar Zeuss prize. I received scholarships for my MPhil and PhD, the latter fully funded by a highly competitive grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council. During my undergraduate studies, I was twice awarded Corpus Christi's Manner's Scholarship, and the College Book Prize thrice, both for outstanding examination results.
