About Eliza
Hi, I’m Eliza! I’m 28, I live in London and I’ve been studying Latin for 17 years - and teaching it for around a decade in total. I’ve loved languages since I can remember, which eventually led me to study Classics at Cambridge University, graduating in 2017. As someone who’s forever learning new languages (currently on my 5th!) I know first-hand how valuable Latin is as a foundation - and I love passing my knowledge on to new learners.
On the academic front, I have a First Class degree in Classics from the University of Cambridge; during my time there, I won two Classics awards and an academic scholarship. I achieved 11 A*s at IGCSE and A*s in French, Latin and English at A level, with an A in Chemistry.
I have set up and taught an after-school Latin class for primary-aged children and have 4 years` experience as a gymnastics coach, as well as working as a babysitter alongside my studies. I`ve also spent a summer in Alsace, France, working as a live-in au pair and teaching English daily in one-on-one sessions.

I’m passionate about etymology (where words come from) and use this to liven up my lessons and aid learning - linking Latin vocab with words and phrases that we use in English today. This helps my students not only improve their Latin quickly, but also build broader linguistic skills that are transferable across Romance languages (e.g., pattern recognition, root words, grammatical structures). Whether you’re gearing up for exams or just have a broader interest in Latin, I’ve taught all kinds of students and would love to help out. My teaching style is casual, friendly and flexible, and I’m happy to tailor the approach to your focus areas.
