Learning is such an individual process. I like to approach topics through techniques not only useful in exams, but far beyond — the most important aspect of learning, for me, is critical thinking. The formulation of an argument and creating logical chains of reasoning throughout your work, whether essay writing, analysis, or creative projects, will help to make your knowledge contextual, applicable, and most importantly, easier to retain.

I have studied with Sam for over a year and in that time I have got to know him as a considerate and passionate individual, two traits which make him a great tutor - not only will his expertise aid in his tutees' success, he will always tailor his tutoring to the individual needs of those he teaches.
I study with Sam at Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, reading English. He is a highly skilled student with an extensive knowledge of the literary canon, recognised in our scholarly cohort for his analytical vigour and his eloquence. He is particularly well-versed in Shakespeare and various modernist writers. Sam is brilliant at explaining things clearly and succinctly, and asks many engaging and thought provoking questions when discussing a text.
I have known Sam for nearly a year, being a fellow student and friend at Trinity Hall (University of Cambridge). Studying English Literature at Cambridge his knowledge of the subject is impeccable and he is very well read. Sam’s own writing is brilliant and so his advice on both English Literature and Language will come in very useful.
Alongside his academic credentials Sam’s character makes him the ideal tutor. He is very reliable, well prepared and has great organisational skills, as evidenced by his position as the Vice President of our college’s JCR (student representative body). Sam is also very kind and down to earth, so will make your tutoring relaxed and will make you feel at ease. Having worked with children and young adults as a sports instructor for years, Sam is well adept to work with those of all ages and is experienced in motivating and encouraging those of all levels with patience. His constant attention to detail will also ensure that your tutoring is constantly at a high quality and that it is tailored directly to your own needs.Sam is an amazing tutor! He helped me through my A levels and has supported me through my uni work so far. I couldn’t recommend him more!
