About Alistair
I am new to tutoring. During my time at school/sixth form I benefitted from tutors who helped to supplement my learning, and I realise it can be a lot easier to improve with some supervision than it is to try to motivate yourself to go through feedback from teachers and absorb it on your own.

I am flexible with the tutoring I offer and I am happy to tailor it to individual needs, especially if a target area for improvement has already been identified.
My preferred approach for an essay subject such as English or history would be to work through previously submitted school/college written work and discuss in detail how it could be improved, before establishing a list of specific skills to work on. I will then either set my own writing tasks or assess recent work to check for improvement.
Having lived in Germany for ≈3 years during my childhood before studying German in education, I find the best practice for spoken skills are to have conversations with German speakers. My recommendation would be to establish a list of topics to discuss along with a set of keywords for each and proceed from there.
