Every student learns differently so I start by understanding: Their current proficiency level (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension). Their learning goals (academic, conversational, cultural, or professional). Their learning style (visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic). Focus: Grammar rules and translation between Urdu and the learner’s native language. Technique: Sentence translation, grammar drills, vocabulary lists. Use of pictures, real-life objects (realia), and gestures instead of translation. Use short Urdu poems, songs, or dialogues. Play recordings of native speakers. Ask comprehension questions after listening. Encourage learners to introduce themselves in Urdu. Conduct role plays (e.g., shopping, visiting a friend). Once I know this, I tailor lessons to meet each student’s needs — ensuring lessons are engaging, relevant, and achievable.
