About Cherry
I was born, raised and educated in Scotland but, since 1984, have been travelling the world teaching and training. I worked for many years with the British Council and posts with them took me to Egypt, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Thailand and Myanmar. First as a teacher, and then I moved into materials writing and teacher training.
I came to Spain in 2019 as I wanted to be nearer family in the UK, but don't want to live in Brexit Britain!
The small school I worked in when I arrived quickly switched to online classes when the pandemic began and I found that I enjoyed working from home, with no commute and more time to do non-work activities that I enjoy.
It also gives me the opportunity to meet people from other countries and cultures - something I am missing in these Covid times.

I teach General English, but also specialise in preparing students to pass Cambridge exams such as First, Advanced and C2. I have a very good track record for getting students through!
I also specialise training and coach aspiring teachers, both native and non-native speaker to improve their knowledge of English language grammar and vocabulary, teaching methodology and best classroom practice.
If you would like to get a TEFL qualification in order to teach abroad, I can prepare you for the pre-course interview and language assessment and assist you with your coursework.
I recommend lessons of 30 minutes plus if you want to focus on conversation. For exam preparation or teacher training, 60 to 90 minutes is preferable for correction of any assignments and essential listening and speaking practice.
I am a firm believer in learning by doing and like to make online lessons as interactive and enjoyable as they would be face-to-face.
