About Amanda
I am a tutor with experience working with both children and adults. Before I completed my CELTA I worked in the prisons and probation service, so have lots of transferable skills and interesting stories. I have a BA(hons) degree in sociology and criminology and am passionate about language learning.

I tailor all lessons to the needs of the student. However, I tend to follow a similar process with each student.
Our first lesson will assess your level and provide an opportunity to discuss goals and your preferences. We will also look at identifying a possible book to work from.
I like to pick a book to work with as it provides us both with an underlying structure. It allows you the opportunity to practice and revise outside of lessons without having to find appropriate materials. I will always supplement a book with other material.
As lessons continue we use the book to learn the principles of English before adapting what is covered so that is specific to you and your needs. I encourage alot of talking in lessons, as talking is the way you are most likely to use your English skills to communicate.
