If I had to describe the good teacher in five words, these would be: understanding, patience, perseverance, discipline and organization. The first thing a teacher should do is understand and identify with the student. Although each student is different from one another in terms of age, cultural background, and musical ability, there is always a way to achieve the desired goal. The teacher's responsibility is to understand the student and find the best way to solve his problems. The growth of the student is a slow process that must be guided by the teacher. The organization of work is fundamental, and it is up to the teacher to show the student how music can become stimulating and recreational. I therefore think it is very important that teaching has the right balance between fun and seriousness. From the first time I took a cello in my hands at the age of eight, I had the opportunity to study with many teachers. From each of them I learned some peculiarities that have shaped my way of playing. I have not only learned about the technique and the cello repertoire, but I have also learned different ways of teaching. This multiplicity of contributions, combined with pedagogical high school studies, has allowed me to acquire an ability to interact with every type of student. Teaching music is a great experience for both the teacher and the student. Teaching also influences my way of playing and my daily practice. Every time I teach, I learn something new. Teaching is a journey to discover what is in the student's mind, what he needs: to understand where the problem is and to find a solution. I think that a person who has studied music in his youth will always maintain that experience and that form mentis within himself, even if he will not be a professional musician. I like to think that this happens thanks to my work.
