About Ben
I’m the Founder and Lead Instructor at StreetSmart Krav Maga (Sevenoaks) and an affiliated instructor with KMG (Krav Maga Global). My focus is real-world personal safety - not sport fighting, not choreography. We train for what actually happens: awareness, boundary-setting, de-escalation, and simple, high-percentage self-defence when avoidance fails. I have 15 years’ experience in Krav Maga and teaching, and I also have QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), which means sessions are delivered with clear structure, strong behaviour management standards (especially with kids/teens), and a professional, safeguarding-first approach.

About the lesson

A typical 1-hour session starts with a short safety brief and Krav-specific warm-up (movement, footwork, and striking mechanics), then we build one or two core self-defence skills through progressive drilling from technical to realistic. The second half focuses on controlled scenario training to apply those skills under stress, sometimes including weapons awareness and defence principles for knife and stick situations using safe training equipment. We finish with a brief conditioning block and a clear recap of what to practise and how it applies in real life.
What do we train?
• Prevention first: awareness, positioning, assertiveness, and decision-making
• Practical self-defence: common grabs/holds, close-range striking, escapes, and getting to safety
• Weapons awareness & defence (age-appropriate): principles and scenarios involving knives and sticks (with safe training equipment and controlled intensity)
• Stress-proof basics: controlled pressure testing so skills hold up under adrenaline
• Fitness with purpose: conditioning that supports movement, resilience, and performance under fatigue
Who is for?
• Kids: confidence, boundaries, discipline, coordinated movement
• Teens: realistic scenarios, personal space, peer pressure, emotional control
• Adults: practical self-defence, confidence, and fitness that transfers
