About Michelle
Hello! I am a certified, career educator holding a BS in Education and an MA in Biology. My professional background uniquely bridges the gap between advanced scientific expertise and decades of personalized teaching. Early in my career, I spent 7 years as a researcher at the world-renowned Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, where I specialized in mathematical modeling, statistical simulations, and quantitative data analysis.
Driven by my passion for education, I transitioned my focus to personalized learning. For nearly 15 years, I specialized in 1-on-1 and small-group school tutoring, tailoring curricula to individual student needs. I then brought this deep expertise into the digital space, spending the last 6+ years teaching thousands of online immersion classes to a global audience.

Leveraging my BS in Education, my extensive background in 1-on-1 school tutoring, and my 6+ years of online experience, I bring science and logic to life for kids and teens. Moving far beyond basic phonics, I teach young learners how to read, think, and speak like scientists by:
* Integrating mathematical logic and reasoning into English practice
* Introducing elementary biology and environmental science concepts
* Building critical thinking skills through interactive language lessons
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
MY TEACHING STYLE:
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
* PERSONALIZED & COLLABORATIVE: I design and tailor every lesson to support your child's unique academic journey.
* STRUCTURED YET ENCOURAGING: With decades of experience across classrooms and online platforms, I provide a highly effective, supportive environment.
* RESULTS-DRIVEN: We focus on practical, real-world skills to unlock your child's full potential. Let's work together!
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
** NOTE ON THE FREE TRIAL LESSON: My complimentary first session is a 30-minute consultation and level assessment. We will use this time to evaluate your child's current proficiency level, discuss your academic goals, and outline a tailored curriculum plan for our future paid lessons together.
** VERIFIED PARENT FEEDBACK:
(Note: On VIPKID, I taught under my first name, Teacher Janet, but I go by my middle name, Michelle, here on Superprof!)
* Thank you very much, Miss Janet! Every progress Kimi has made in the past three years is inseparable from your professionalism, effort and patience. -Parent (VIPKID)
* Dear Janet，We are very grateful to you for teaching Ann in the past two years. You are serious, patient and tolerant. -Ann's mom (VIPKID)
* Teacher Janet is Elaine's favorite teacher, because teacher Janet is kind, has a strong affinity, is very serious and responsible in class. Teacher Janet has rich teaching experience and is very close to children's psychology. -Parent (VIPKID)
