About John
I am an engineering graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering. During my time at school, although I can admit that mathematics was not my favourite subject, I always saw how useful it was and how it helped evolve my thinking and problem-solving skills.

I believe that understanding and using maths is an essential skill whether you are looking for a career in STEM or not. I believe the ideal length of a lesson is 45-50 minutes, any longer and it is hard to keep focused especially in a subject as high engagement as maths. The way I like to approach every lesson is by recapping previous learning. Following that, either going back through previous learning if I believe that is necessary or moving forward with new material. I understand that not every student has their main focus as maths so I like working to each individual's ability and strengths and making sure they are always confident in their mathematical skills.
