Responsibilities: several placements within the company including procurement, engineering, commercial and operational sectors. Practical engineering placement has been completed along with my shadowing management placement. I have been given many responsibilities such as a bus modification installation project, oil sampling across an entire fleet project, DPF campaign and being apart of strategy meetings for improving engineering in South Yorkshire.

I undertook a two-week placement at Cabot before starting my first year at university. My time there was very beneficial having been given tasks such as analysing P&ID's of a decommissioned burner and going onto the plant to highlight which parts were still present on the site.

I undertook a 3-week placement at Cabot the summer before starting my second year of A-levels. My duties included office-based work such as renaming of files to be moved to a new system and updating response flow charts. When updating the response flow charts, I was having to work closely with the control room engineers to make sure all the procedures were correct.

I stayed residentially for 4 weeks on an international summer school campus as an activity leader. Leading activities

such as yoga, creative writing and giving tours around various cities in the UK.

 I stayed for 10 days residentially in oxford university as a project supervisor for Tokyo University students to help 

them produce a project on British culture. Assisting them with communicating with the public, advising them on 

presentation skills and helping them plan efficiently to meet their deadline.

Summary of Skills 

People skills

        •Working in both retail and the care industry for a total of 6 years I have been, and still am, heavily involved with giving good customer service. 

        •Volunteering as a scout leader I learned how to plan and lead my own activity sessions which were both educational and fun.

        •I enjoy networking at events such as the HSBC awards day.


Team work

       •My time spent at Matalan improved my team work skills drastically. Coordination with other members of the team was vital to complete the large number of tasks required each shift.

       •The Engineering Education Scheme Wales (STEMCymru) consisted of groups coming up with solutions to real-life problems. This task needed us to coordinate and utilize our strengths in order to meet big deadlines.







Technical skills

       • Creativity is key to solving a problem and I used this in an individual engineering competition where I proposed my own solution to global warming and renewable energy while also looking at the economics of my invention.

Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word and Publisher skills due to using them daily for university projects.

Competent in AutoCAD especially in drawing P&ID’s and Plot and plan elevations from design module coursework.

Fluent Welsh speaker.

First Aid Level 3 in the work place.
