About Darryl
I am an experienced MSN-prepared registered nurse with a strong background in critical care and interventional radiology/cardiology, and I am passionate about helping nursing students succeed. My academic background includes a degree in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Nursing, allowing me to connect complex nursing concepts with pharmacology, physiology, and the underlying sciences. I believe every student can master challenging material with the right guidance, and I tailor each session to your individual learning style, goals, and areas of difficulty.

My approach to nursing tutoring is personalized, practical, and focused on helping students understand why concepts work rather than simply memorizing information. I use real-world clinical examples, step-by-step explanations, active recall, practice questions, and critical-thinking strategies to help students build confidence and apply what they learn.
I begin each lesson by identifying the student's goals and any concepts they are struggling with. We then review the key material using clear explanations and clinical examples before working through practice questions together. I encourage students to explain concepts back to me so I can identify knowledge gaps and strengthen their understanding. We finish by reviewing the most important takeaways and creating a plan for what to study next.
My background combines an MSN, registered nursing experience, critical care experience, interventional radiology/cardiology experience, and a chemistry degree. This allows me to connect nursing concepts with pharmacology, physiology, chemistry, and real-world clinical practice. I focus on making difficult material understandable while teaching students how to think through problems like a nurse—not simply memorize facts.
I work with nursing students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including students in ADN, BSN, and MSN programs. I can help with nursing fundamentals, pharmacology, pathophysiology, medical-surgical nursing, cardiovascular concepts, critical care concepts, clinical reasoning, and NCLEX preparation.
