About Gerald
I have 4 years of University-based tutoring and demonstrating experience, guiding and teaching undergraduate students in chemistry.
During my undergraduate masters, I tutored many students at GCSE and A-level with great success, helping them grow in confidence in the subject so they pass their exams. Some of those I have tutored have gone on to study chemistry at university.

The first thing I feel necessary is to find the areas of the course where the student doesn't feel confident and then work on these areas, potentially by starting with the foundations just below this knowledge gap.
I am friendly and approachable and do not take a hard line disciplined approach to teach as I find that is what has put most young people off the subject in the first place. As a result, I am patient and forthcoming. I will explain things numerous times if needs be and will be practical with the work provided.
I am a firm believer that it is understanding why something happens in chemistry rather than expecting things to be remembered.
