Greetings! Welcome to my page where you can find out about me. Please browse around and find out about my work as a teacher. Feel free to contact me even if you are unsure - I'm happy to answer any questions you have.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Drum Kit (pop/jazz etc), Piano (classical), and Music Technology. I like to use creative and inspiring tasks to overcome technical difficulties and bring enjoyment to instrumental lessons.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I trained at London's world famous Trinity College of Music, in Jazz Performance (drums), also specialising in teaching and conducting.
As a teenager I completed the Guildhall Graded Exams for Drum Kit. I also hold a Piano Diploma and ABRSM music theory grade 5.
- How much do you charge?
Half hour lessons can be arranged for £20. Group lessons can also be arranged, for £5 or less per extra student. Travel costs are calculated based on the time it takes.
- Where do you teach?
For drum teaching at home I have dedicated space and top quality equipment. I live in Greenwich within close walking distance of two overground stations. I am also very happy to travel, to anywhere in the London area.
- When are you available?
I'm flexible to teach throughout the week, although weekend evenings are not preferable.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I enjoy teaching all ages and abilities, from absolute beginners, through graded assessments to advanced level.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
As a teacher I want to get to know you and help you achieve exactly what you want! Whatever music you want to play, I'm interested in finding out your strengths and weaknesses and using them to bring out your natural musicanship.

Chris is your guy, if you are looking to love music, be motivated to learn and share fun and funny moments. He meets you where you are and take you on a musical journey you've been looking for.
I highly recommend Chris. He is a brilliant and patient tutor and has so many different approaches to teaching, he understands how to tailor his classes to different learning styles and interests. I enjoy being given options for which learning path to follow and being able to revisit that Chris as my learning continues.
I’ve had many teachers over my years learning piano and none have ever come close to being as effective and inspirational in regards to my development as a musician. His teaching is focused on ones own goals and interests as a musician rather than simply imposing his own interests, and he is good about being candid with what a student will have to work on in order to realistically achieve those goals and doesn’t let students simply disregard things they don’t like if they are important to their long term development. On top of this Chris is very good about helping you build better practice methods, creating exercises and methods for learning pieces that are very efficient and allow you to create focused practice sessions for yourself that make the most of your time. He also is good about checking in with ones practice regime and helping to find methods to make it more consistent and productive, which i personally find has also informed my planning and scheduling skills in other areas of my life such as school and personal projects. His teaching methods also equip you with the knowledge necessary to teach yourself as you develop, be that through ear training and theory that allows you to transcribe and understand music that you’re interested in, or through methods of learning pieces that you can then apply whenever learning anything. He is extremely reliable, rarely ever cancelling lessons and being as flexible as is possible with reorganising lesson times and dates when there are scheduling conflicts. Finally, he is also a very friendly and engaging person who makes lessons enjoyable and feels like you build a strong kinship with over the course of time you spend with him which makes lessons even more enjoyable and avoids the usual pitfalls of other teachers who are generally too boring or unnecessarily serious and drain away any enjoyment from lessons. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a music teacher, he’s a rare find and I can assure you you won’t be disappointed.
I love my lessons with Chris - he is knowledgable and experienced in any areas of music I ask about, classical technique, improvisation, music history and theory. He has great patience and has really helped me feel good about practising!
