About Sam
Hi! I’m Sam and I am now in my second year of studying Music at York. I also hold an A Level in Music.
I play regularly in a variety of situations: opera orchestras to rock ‘n’ roll gigs, musical theatre pits and jazz bands. This range of experience has given me a strong understanding across various styles of music, and the ability to adapt to different needs.
I have learnt from some of the country's best woodwind players, including top West End musicians.
Teaching brings me immense satisfaction, as I love seeing others experience the joy of music.

I believe it’s never too late to start playing a musical instrument, and that learning should always be enjoyable as well as rewarding. I adapt my teaching to suit each student's goals. Lessons are usually weekly, and last either 30 minutes or an hour. Of course, I can negotiate this. I’m happy to teach at the student’s home. I have experience teaching a range of ages and abilities, from complete beginners to more advanced players.
