About Sungbin
Hello, I'm Sungbin, a classical guitarist and teacher based in Bourton-on-the-Water. I love the way a guitar can make even a small room feel full of music, and I enjoy helping students discover that sound for themselves.
I welcome children and adults, whether you are picking up a guitar for the first time, returning after a break, or developing your playing further. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to achieve. We can find a starting point together, with music you enjoy and small steps you can feel good about.
I studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, completing an MA in Performance and an Advanced Diploma, and hold the LRAM teaching qualification. I won the London International Guitar Competition in 2021 and teach at the London Youth Conservatoire alongside my work as a performing and recording musician.
For me, teaching is a chance to listen as well as to share. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, trying things, and gradually finding your own way of expressing a piece. Lessons are available in English or Korean, in person in the Bourton-on-the-Water area and online.

Lessons are a space to enjoy making music and build confidence, one step at a time. I offer individual classical guitar lessons in the Bourton-on-the-Water area, with online lessons for students further afield. Children, adult beginners, returning players and more experienced guitarists are all welcome.
We begin with where you are: what you enjoy listening to, what you would like to play, and anything that feels difficult. Together we choose pieces that interest you and give you something manageable to work towards.
A typical lesson includes listening to what you have practised, exploring a small number of ideas together, and agreeing on clear goals for the week. I demonstrate on my own guitar, so you can hear and see what we are working on. We develop a comfortable playing position, a warm tone, steady rhythm and music reading through the pieces themselves.
For more experienced players, we can look closely at phrasing, tone colours, technical challenges and how to shape a performance that feels personal. With younger learners, I use short activities and achievable goals to keep each lesson encouraging and engaging.
Online lessons follow the same individual approach, with clear demonstrations and practical guidance for your own practice. Lessons can be in English or Korean. You are welcome to get in touch for a free 30-minute introductory lesson, so we can meet, play a little and find a good starting point together.

Perfect! He makes playing the guitar so simple and easy he is also very friendly! He makes me enjoy playing the guitar and he doesn’t make you feel like you are under pressure when you get something wrong.
