About Matilde
Hi there! My name is Matilde Lotti, and I am a professional cellist with experience in both orchestral playing and chamber music. My journey with the cello began in Italy, where I fell in love with the instrument and dedicated myself to studying it. Throughout my career, I have been privileged to experience a diverse range of musical opportunities. In Italy, I had the esteemed privilege of performing with several orchestras before moving to Dublin, where my love of music continued to flourish. One of my highlights was being invited to play at the Music for Galway festival, where I was able to share my love of music with a wider audience. I was thrilled to have won first prize at the Chamber Fest last year with the Aalto Trio, with whom I have performed in various venues across Ireland. Currently, I work as a freelance cellist with the Irish National Opera and Glasshouse Music, collaborating with esteemed music organizations in Ireland. For me, playing the cello is not just a career, but a lifelong passion that I am grateful to share with others. I am committed to advancing my skills and sharing my love of music with others and am excited to explore new opportunities in the future.

In our cello lessons using the Suzuki method, we focus on building a strong foundation of technique and musicality. We begin with warm-up exercises to develop proper posture, bowing technique, and left-hand finger placement. Students then learn pieces from the Suzuki repertoire, gradually adding more complex rhythms and techniques. We provide guidance on technique and musical interpretation, emphasizing the importance of listening and playing with others. Our goal is to foster a love for music and a lifelong appreciation for the cello.

Perfect! I am really enjoying my lessons with Matilde. She clearly has a great depth of knowledge around the cello and is able to present that knowledge in bite-sized pieces appropriate to my amateur level. So while the primary focus is learning to play better, there is also a sense of slowly expanding one's understanding of music in a way that supports and deepens the experience of playing. Highly recommended!
