About Isabel
Hi! I'm Isabel, a violinist, fiddler, and music educator with a passion for helping students reach their full potential. I've been playing violin since I was three years old, beginning with classical Suzuki training before discovering my love for bluegrass, Irish, folk, and traditional music. Along the way, I've had the opportunity to teach private violin lessons, participate in university orchestras, and perform professionally with my family band.
I believe music lessons should be both challenging and enjoyable. Whether we're strengthening technique, understanding music theory, or learning a favorite piece, my goal is to help students gain confidence while developing the skills they need to become independent, expressive musicians. Every student learns differently, and I enjoy adapting my teaching style to meet each individual's needs and goals.
I work with students of all ages and experience levels, from complete beginners to more advanced musicians looking to refine their playing. No matter where you are in your musical journey, I'd love to help you grow and make music something you look forward to every week.

My goal as a music teacher is to help every student become a confident, well-rounded musician while making lessons engaging and enjoyable. As both a classically trained violinist and an active bluegrass performer with The Folk Villains, I teach students not only how to play the notes, but also how to develop strong technique, musicality, creativity, and confidence.
Every lesson is personalized to the student's goals and experience level. A typical lesson includes warm-ups, technique, scales, repertoire, ear training, and music theory, along with opportunities to explore improvisation, performance skills, or fiddling for students interested in traditional music. I believe students learn best when they understand why they're doing something, so I focus on building lasting musicianship rather than simple memorization.
What sets me apart is my diverse musical background. I began with classical Suzuki training before transitioning into bluegrass and folk music, giving me experience in both technical precision and creative expression. Through my band, The Folk Villains, I've performed at nationally recognized festivals including Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Red Wing Roots Music Festival, the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Festival, Ossipee Valley Music Festival, the National, Maryland, and New Jersey Folk Festivals, and much more! I also completed Royal Conservatory Level 9 Music Theory, allowing me to teach both practical musicianship and the theory behind the music.
I welcome students of all ages and experience levels, from complete beginners to advancing musicians looking to strengthen their violin, fiddle, or music theory skills. Whether you're preparing for auditions, learning your first instrument, or expanding into bluegrass improvisation, I'll tailor each lesson to help you achieve your musical goals.

I typically do 30 min lessons for beginners, which are $20 per lesson! Then we can progress to 45 min and then the full hour.
